Many friends and many clients are stressed to the max these days.
It’s no wonder, right?
Tech overload, mom overload, life overload.
I was just having a conversation with my bestie about natural ways to combat stress and told her about a fantastic remedy I used to use, and quite frankly, need to get my butt back on it. Not that I am stressed to the max, I’m actually quite chilled, content and at peace these days.
Enter Gandha 600 by an amazing company called AOR (Advanced Orthomolecular Research). This article of mine was actually posted a couple of years ago but it is so worth mentioning in today’s present world.
Gandha 600 is known as the “Indian Ginseng” and comes from the plant Withania Somnifera. Like ginseng, is has adaptogenic properties, which means it has the ability to help our bodies adapt to our environment, especially in times of stress. (Give me a couple cases, would ya!)
But, ashwangandha differs in that it reduces the damage caused by an overactive nervous system, specifically when its in a state of alarm.
I also like the fact that this company states that “it enhances the activity of key immune cells to improve the ability to protect the body.” We know that 70% of our immune system lies in our gut and if we can get our immune system to kick it up a notch and protect us that much more, well sign me up!
The little ayurvedic herb also acts as an anti inflammatory again. Yay! Not only does this stuff protect, raise and support your immune system (and indirectly, your GI tract), it actually can help decrease inflammation in the body. It doesn’t matter where in the body inflammation can occur, an anti inflammatory can look after that.
Inflammation can come in many shapes and sizes, as you can read in the article “The different kinds of stress” from The American Psychological Association. Inflammation can be classified as a swollen knee joint, Crohn’s or a red and hot itchy skin flare up. It’s all inflammation that signals something is not running up to par in your body.
Wanna hear something cool about this herb? In lab tested animals, (yeah, I know, I’m sorry. I’m feeling for them too) it protected them against morphine tolerance, dependence and toxicity.
Isn’t that cool?
Ashwagandha protects them from the build up of toxins in the blood stream and organs for those that may be going through drug dependency. They need all the help they can get when they take the step to becoming clean. Powdered glutamine is another extraordinary supplement used for this very thing but another time for that talk.
“Clinical trials have been shown that people who supplemented with Ashwagandha are less likely to develop ulcers, to have depleted levels of vitamin C or use up important adrenal hormones” such as epinephrine and cortisol. These are our fight or flight responders and if you run out of them, you, my friend are up the creek.
One of the main reasons I also take ashwagandha is for athletic purposes. I didn’t realize all the other important attributes that I mentioned above came in this nice little package and now I am never without it. However, with that being said, I cycle all my vitamins and supplements and by this I mean, I take a little break from supplements every now and again so the body doesn’t adapt and get used to the same ol thing all the time. So what I do is take it till the bottle is done (usually 4 weeks) then I take a break off it from 2-4 weeks in duration and go back on again.
When I am off the ashwagandha for the 2-4 weeks, I will supplement with something else comparable so I don’t compromise my immune system.
As for stress, ashwagandha has been used to treat anxiety too. It has been tested and proven in modern scientific studies.
Short and to the point. This is by far my favourite brand of Ashwagandha and will continue to be. I know personally that they are a fantastic company with excellent doctors, chemists, etc on staff and they go to the ends of the earth to provide you with a quality product.
With colds and allergies in the forefront right now, it’s worth it to take the steps now to keep a strong healthy immune system. AND, do NOT forget about your nutrition. Especially at this time of year, it is not a good idea to let your nutrition wander.
Hit reply and talk to me. I’d love to get to know you or you can use the contact me form.
Have a wonderful day!
